![]() Synopsis Our assignment was for us to design a studio for ourselves. There were three choices of what type of studio to design including writer's studio, designer's studio, and guitarist studio. I chose the designer's studio since it seemed to relate to architecture the most. It was do be designed as a place to work and a retreat from the daily stresses of life. All the specifications, however, were the same. The studio was to be no larger than 642 feet and is located in the backyard of a house. This is our first project in which we had to build a model for and was to teach us human contexts. Assignment Main Idea When doing this project, all I could think about was how small this was going to be. I tried to find ways to figure out how I can seperate the work space from the leisure space and I decided to try to seperate the spaces using a desk down the middle, but I soon found out that it took up more space than I'd like so I got rid of that idea. I soon realized that it didn't have to be rectilinear so I dented a part in and elongated it a little to fit my interior. I made one side very transparent and the other very heavy and kept my dual-slanting roof. Then, after admiring Jennifer's project, I implemented her idea into my design, which was a double window on the corner sitting on top of a massive stone block. I increased the window to a glass door which opened on the corner so you can walk out onto the deck. Of course, Jenny's design was much better. My Presentation My paper drawings are arranged on a 18"x24" piece of paper and the model stands independent from the rest. The model's roof is removable as well as all the furniture inside. There was nothing really special about the presentation. The presentation was broken into two groups after the writer's studio people presented. After the presentation, we all arranged our models to make a small town which was rather interesting. ![]() |
